SMOCA STARTS
THE SUMMER WITH A SPLASH
The Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art [SMoCA] presents SPLASH: Summer
SMoCA Nights on Thursday, June 23, from 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. A unique
and wildly popular fixture of Valley nightlife, SMoCA Nights brings
together artists, fashion designers, musicians and dancers from throughout
Arizona for an eclectic evening of cutting-edge culture and hip entertainment.
Among the highlights of SPLASH are performances by the electronic band
Peachcake, Gamil Zarah Middle Eastern Dance Company and DJ Maji as well
as a fashion show organized by the staff of Labelhorde, Arizona?s premiere
fashion directory. Six new designers are being showcased, including
American Badass by J. James Jackson, Christa Hilda by Christa Hastie,
Dapzury Valenzuela, Designs by Shannon, Phunk n Fusion by Hector Primero
and Brian Tanner (a.k.a. Husband). Also returning for a special encore
are eleven designers who have shown at past SMoCA Nights: Omar Call,
Sommer Christine, Susan Di Staulo, Jennyvi Dizon, Tiffe Fermaint, Angela
Johnson, Brian Linger, Monique Martinez, TeeRoy, Nicole West and Rhonda
Zayas.
On view at SMoCA are three new summer exhibitions: Water, Water Everywhere.
. ., southwestNET: animation and Looking at the World: photography from
the permanent collection. As always, guests enjoy free appetizers, a
cash bar, Tarot card readings by Ozma, free door prizes and other rotating
surprises. Advance tickets may be purchased by calling 480-994-ARTS

SPLASH: Summer SMoCA Nights is organized by the Scottsdale Museum of
Contemporary Art and sponsored by Desert Living, Java, Labelhorde, Orange
Table, Phoenician Health Group, Phoenix New Times, Phosphor Photography,
Robert Saenz, Swell Pro Audio, Urban Hair and WHERE Phoenix/Scottsdale.
